Interiors Color Trends - Fall / Winter 2012/2013

COLORS:

neutral:
White chalk in all shades.

coffee:
Brown red, dark and neutral.

blue:
Marino, gray and lilac

green:
This season will become less important but will be used in pitch-black and green olive.

yellow:
Be used more in gold and ocher.

orange:
It will use more toward peach and caramel.

red:
Very vivid, too warm as coral and dark brown.

violet:
Dark brown plum and coffee.

For this season, the key is balance between Anarchy and Conformity- Control and Emotion-The Fantastic and The Everyday-
El equilibrio es la clave entre -Anarquía y Conformismo- Emoción y Control- Lo Fantástico y Lo Cotidiano-

I know some of these color combinations may seem strange to the eye and also inviting to chaos, but this is what gives character to the season and the results are very sane!
Se que alguna de estas combinaciones pueden parecer extrañas a la vista y que invitan al caos, pero esto es lo que le da carácter a la temporada y los resultados son muy coherente!

For instance;
The pale neutral gray balance a dim orange and olive green. The neutral help maintain order.
The pastel shades are the perfect complement to a warm and strident red.
Por ejemplo;    
Los grises y neutros pálidos equilibrar un tenue naranja y verde olivo. Los neutro ayudan a mantener el orden.
Los tonos pastel son el complemento ideal para un rojo cálido y estridente.

Also a palette of intense colors like fiery orange, green chrome, sulfur or deep blue colors and black, make an excellent team with the golden yellows.
Dark colors will be used in a higher percentage in the decorations and pale tones for decorative accents such as pillows, vases and other objects.
También una paleta de colores intensos como el naranja ardiente, el verde cromo, colores azufre  o azul profundo y negro,  hacen un excelente equipo con los amarillos dorados.
Los colores oscuros serán utilizados en mayor porcentaje en las decoraciones y los tonos claros y pálidos para los acentos decorativos como cojines, jarrones y otros objetos.

 In my opinion, these combinations are highly elegant and rich in context as they have much to do with the ends and opposite. To some extent are extravagant combinations and aggressive but also contain tranquility and calm.
Estas combinaciones en mi opinión son altamente elegantes y ricas dentro de un contexto ya que tienen mucho que ver con los extremos y con lo opuesto. Hasta cierto punto son combinaciones extravagantes y agresivas pero también contienen tranquilidad y calma.

La Paz 76 Gas Station and Car Wash @ Laguna Hills, Ca.

I am very happy because  I can introduce you to my first commercial men´s bathroom.
This is just one part of the project in which we are working on right now.
The gas station and car wash in La Paz will be completely remodeled.
This one is  one of several projects for which  Erika Wintes Design has been hired.

Our intention is to create an environment that invites the customer to rest in the cafe area,  checking e-mail or reading a book in the resting area while they are waiting for the car to be washed.

La estación de servicio y lavadero de autos en La Paz será completamente remodelado.
Este es uno de varios proyectos para los cuales se ha contratado los servicios de Erika  Winters Design.

Nuestra intención es crear un ambiente que invite al cliente a descansar en la zona de la cafetería. Revisar el correo electrónico o leer un libro en el área de descanso mientras esperan que el coche se lavado.

Design, Remodeling & Decorating by Erika Winters

Rebuilt and decorated.
The conditions in which a  young couple were purchased this property was totally abandoned.

The challenge for the small house was to be conditioned as dwelling.
Draw from it the best use of space not to be monotonous or uncomfortable.
Basically we started from the concept of bringing in the garden and make this area to be an integral part of the house through a deck built with wasted poles.

To access the garden area, was built a sliding door inside the room that allows for its size and scale integrate the space.
The decor is contemporary but I must say  restoring some items and furniture from the personal collection of the couple was important too.
I also looked specific antique furniture like the Vanity, by its narrowness contributed significantly as a functional element to the only one room.

For the couple was important: first the living room was not offhand, second to be able of seating down in front of a TV, reading a book or have a nice talk with friends and third, to have a sofa comfortable and convenient enough to use as a bed for guests.
I designed a pice to fit the space and with these three characteristics.
Today the small living room looks great.

For the dining room I restored an antique (gateleg circa 1820) folding table that can serve up to 6 people.

The kitchen is an important area for the lady, she loves to cook, so  we built again all the cabinets, the sink was changed for a barn style and the three main white element as refrigerator, stove and sink keep them in center.

 

The floor is a vintage purple and gray vinyl. I also used in the bathroom in shades of orange.

There are repetitive elements such as Carrara marble like kitchen cover and tables. Vintage vinyl, white tile Subway type  and colors palet as plum, gray-green, white and orange, guides and sectioned the house into two parts. Starting with the plum in the kitchen including just the kitchen ceiling, it becomes gray-green, ending with warm colors like orange on the floor bathroom. 

Here in addition I used the white Subway tile, we finished walls and ceiling with a gray-green paint, the wall turns on a curve to the door.

The restored oak hardwood flooring  goes throughout the house. Because the floor I decided not to saturate the spaces and set aside the option of rugs. The floor looks amazing. The internal walls of the home environment wrapped in white with detail trim and doors in plum and gray-green colors.

We used laminated glass doors to keep light and make sense of space especially in the bathroom is tiny.
The small guest house is now fully live!!

The landscaping design styles that you see around evolved over time.
I think recent landscaping history in the West is about more than just how design has evolved.

Landcaping is the experience that accompanies the entrance to a house, from there you create an expectation of lifestyle from the homeowner.
The architecture is confirmed by the designs of gardening.

Los estilos de diseño de paisaje que se ve alrededor han evolucionado con el tiempo.
Creo que la historia reciente de jardinería en el Occidente es algo más que, cómo el diseño ha evolucionado.

Landcaping o diseño de paisaje,  es la experiencia que acompaña  la entrada de una casa, a partir de ahí se crea una expectativa de vida del dueño de casa.
La arquitectura se reafirma por los diseños de jardinería.
